We are back home after a week of stress in London. We certainly had a great time and enjoyed the competition, although the results were not in our favor this time.
Electra had some problems at the beginning and then we were not able to make her run in her maximum. This is something that can happen and we were not lucky enough to solve it correctly and make a good run.
The first attempt was nothing as expected, we could only do 114 km/kWh, which is much lower than our maximum. In the second attempt, we made the decision to run with one engine, which helped us to reach 126
km/kWh.
We finished the day with a bitter flavor. A bit of disappointment, restlessness, impotence, and stress, all mixed up. We didn’t know what was the problem of Electra, where we were losing energy or if there was a broken system. Everything seemed to be working perfectly.
Next day we took a very high risk: reduce the maximum amperage of the engine. This had a high cost: either we did a great result or we could lose an attempt. Electra was performing in her maximum, reaching up to 160 km/Kwh, but then we were not able to meet the competition time requirements, so we lost an attempt.
With hope broken, we decided to run the last attempt as slow as possible (close to the time limit). This time the regenerative system didn’t work properly and a lot of energy was lost in the turns and braking stations. We could barely do 116 km/Kwh.
Our best result was clearly the second attempt, and so that is how we finished 10th. After being 4th 2018, this result is not good for us. We came back home with a bunch of ideas to get a better position because the team spirit never ends!
